Purpose, Vision & Mission

How many times have you heard the expression, "I was born to be a chiropractor!" It's great when an individual is excited about what they do, yet, a distinction can be made here to help clarify the meaning of purpose, vision and mission.

Your Purpose is the why! Who are you and why are you here?  Are you a healer, a teacher, a leader?  All of the above?  Spend a few moments reflecting and if you haven't already defined your purpose, in writing, perhaps now is a good place to begin! Please make sure that your purpose statement aligns with your values since this will determine the quality of your life! You know you've got this right when all of you says, "Yes!"

Your Vision is what you see...or the what! The big picture...how you see your life's purpose unfolding...what does this look like? Where do you see yourself a year from now, 3 years from now, or even 5 years from now? How do you see your life taking shape?  Seeing this picture in advance of the actual occurence will help bring about the people, places and things to align with that vision!

Your Mission is the how! In other words, how will your life's purpose and vision be expressed...this is what you do! Are you practicing the way you want, when you want, where you want, etc.? If  the answer is yes, you're probably on your way toward the success you've dreamed about.  If not ... why not?

It has been said that the purpose of life is to live your life with purpose! The clearer you are about your why and the what, the how will begin to reveal itself to you!

Set your goals, review your values on a consistent basis and more things will start happening for you rather than to you!

Future Diary
In 1983, Mark Victor Hansen came to a Markson Management Services seminar and handed everyone a book with nothing in it. He called it Future Diary.

He then proceeded to tell us to write down everything we wanted as if it were already true...hence future diary.

I remember writing 5 things down that I really wanted, never thinking or believing that any of them would come true. All five did!
