Maybe

Years ago in ancient China, you were considered to be wealthy if you owned a farm and a horse!
The people of the village would exclaim, "My, how lucky you are to own a farm and a horse"!, to which the man would reply, "maybe".

One day the horse ran away and the people of the village said, "Oh, how unlucky you are that your horse ran away"!, to which the man would reply, "maybe".
A few days later his horse returned and brought another horse with him! The people of the village would exclaim, "Oh, how lucky you are that your horse returned and brought another horse"! To which the man exclaimed, "maybe".

Horses were valuable to farm owners to do work, yet the new horse was not trained or broken to ride. The people of the village exclaimed, "Oh, how unlucky you are that the horse is not broken or trained, to which the man said, "maybe".

The man that owned the farm just happened to have a son who was young enough and strong enough to break the new horse, to which the people exclaimed, "Oh, how lucky you are that you have son to break the new horse"!, to which the man said "maybe".

The horse proved to be quite a challenge to the young man and was thrown from the horse, breaking both of his legs, to which the people of the town said, "Oh, how unlucky you are that your son broke both his legs", to which the man said, "maybe".

A few days later the Chinese army was scouring the countryside looking for young men to draft into the army, yet when stumbling upon the boy with the broken legs, he was passed by. The people of the town said, "Oh, how lucky you are that your son had broken his legs and was unable to be taken by the army"!, to which the man said, "maybe".

Most of us have been challenged in our lives...a little bit, or a lot! Hindsight often offers perspective. Next time you are frought with challenge, don't label it or judge it good or bad...(easier said than done)...say "maybe".

Future Diary
In 1983, Mark Victor Hansen came to a Markson Management Services seminar and handed everyone a book with nothing in it. He called it Future Diary.

He then proceeded to tell us to write down everything we wanted as if it were already true...hence future diary.

I remember writing 5 things down that I really wanted, never thinking or believing that any of them would come true. All five did!
