In today’s chiropractic practice environment, you probably fall into one of three categories. 

One, you are doing terrific, patients are flying at you from every direction, you’re extremely profitable, and your staff is there to support you, you’re saving money and life is great. 

Two, you’re doing ok.  You’re making a living, practice is somewhat stressful but the bills are being paid.
Although there isn’t a lot left over, you don’t have a lot of personal time and you’re not saving as much money as you would like to meet your financial goals.  There seems to be a significant amount of staff turnover and you have employees but not a team.

Three, you’re beginning to wonder why you ever became a chiropractor in the first place because this just isn’t fun anymore…you’re struggling to make ends meet and it seems that you have a sign outside your door that says, “don’t come here”. 
You have more debt than you can handle and you never thought this could happen to you.  Sound familiar?

If you’re reading this article and saying, “I fall into category three”, there is a very simple explanation as to why you are struggling.  It’s not because you can’t adjust, or you have the wrong location, or you didn’t get an adequate education or your fees are too high or too low.  It’s simply because you received a chiropractic education, but not necessarily an awareness education.
 
The awareness I’m speaking about is the education you never received in school, but managed to open a business (that’s right, a business), and you don’t yet have the awareness of what it takes to run a successful business.  It’s sad but true, that there are a lot of great chiropractors out in the field just not making it.  Today’s practice environment is more challenging than ever before.  The risks are greater, but so are the rewards.  Insurance companies are slowly but surely reducing benefits, reducing utilization and reducing fees for chiropractic services.  For many chiropractors, the squeeze is getting more uncomfortable and there just doesn’t seem to be a way out. 

You know exactly what I’m speaking about! 

Albert Einstein once said, “You cannot solve a problem with the same thinking that created it”.  Maybe there is another way to think about getting reimbursed for your services, maybe there is another paradigm to consider. 
Maybe is not a maybe…it’s available to you now…right now…if you’re willing to explore the information and “awareness” that surrounds you. 

If you’re skeptical about my previous statement, I don’t blame you.  Similarly, I don’t blame patients who don’t understand what you do either.  There’s simply no way for the patient to find out what chiropractic really is unless they step into an office that creates the kind of experience that forever changes that patients’ perception of what chiropractic really is, instead of what they “thought” it was.  For the chiropractor in the field, there is no way to fully comprehend what coaching can do for you unless you were to experience what that means for you!
